Matrice has an apartment of her own now, after leaving homelessness and a difficult relationship behind. "I worked really hard to get here," she said.

Matrice manages lupus, a condition that brings fatigue, pain, and shaking, and getting to the grocery store regularly isn't easy. "I know I can count on them to send me something, and I can be able to eat for the rest of the month. I'm really grateful for that."
