Eat Well offers $100 per month for fruits, vegetables, and beans to selected participants in the Duke congestive heart failure study.
After enrollment, participants will receive a prepaid debit card in the mail from Eat Well. The card takes about 10-20 days to arrive in the mail. The card comes with instructions to activate the card by phone or online.
Once the card is activated, participants will have access to $100 per month for 12 months.
Participants can use the card to buy fresh, frozen, and canned fruits, vegetables, and beans with no added salts, sugars, or fats.
Participating Eat Well stores include Food Lion, Walmart, Harris Teeter, Instacart, CVS, Walgreens, Dollar General, and Family Dollar. Coming soon: Publix, Target, and Amazon!
Eat Well benefits can not pay for any service or delivery fees associated with online retailers.
Participants can choose their own fruits, vegetables, and beans to purchase.
Participants can spend their funds on multiple trips to the grocery store.

Where can I shop?
Eat Well funds can be redeemed at any Food Lion, Walmart, Harris Teeter, CVS, Walgreens, Dollar General, or Family Dollar. Participants can also shop at a wider variety of stores online at Instacart.com. Starting in 2026, your Eat Well card can also be used at Publix, Target, and Amazon.
Note: The Eat Well card cannot be used to pay for fees associated with online ordering or delivery. Participants will need to enter an Eat Well card number and personal credit/debit card information as payment methods to redeem Eat Well benefits through online retailers.
What can I buy?
Eligible items include fresh, frozen, or canned fruits, vegetables, and beans without added salt, sugar, or fat.
when will i get my funds?
Eat Well cards will be loaded with $100 upon activation, and on the 1st of each following month that participants are enrolled.
Do the funds carry over from month to month?
Unused Eat Well funds do not carry over from month to month.
How Long does the program last?
Enrolled participants will receive 12 months of benefits. Participants will be notified before benefits end.
