On June 4, 2025, Human Service Organizations for the Healthy Opportunities Pilots are coming together to share the importance of the Pilots with legislators at the North Carolina General Assembly.

This is a critical moment to share what we know to be true: HOP works! Providing evidence-based supports for housing, food, and safety delivers an outsized impact on people, communities, and the cost of health care.

This good work needs to be sustained, and your advocacy can help.

The event kicks off with dinner at 5:30PM at Raleigh Wine Shop on June 3, 2025. This gathering will set the tone for advocacy day – we will keep things joyful, focus on the positive impacts of HOP, and spend time rejuvenating together.

what you need to know leading up to advocacy day

If you need lodging for the event, there is a block of rooms reserved at the Longleaf Hotel in downtown Raleigh at a discounted rate. You can book your rooms here. Please book your room by May 28th to get the discounted rate.

You do not have to schedule any legislative meetings for advocacy day! We will organize all the relevant legislative meetings for attendees based on their legislative districts, and everyone will receive an agenda with details on who they’re meeting with, where the offices are located, and when they need to be there.

Similarly, you do not have to create your own messaging materials. For the advocacy day, we will align our messaging with NC DHHS materials and distribute copies of one-pagers and other leave-behinds.

We will gather at 8:30 AM on June 4, 2025 in the conference room of the North Carolina Medical Society building, where we will get oriented for the day. Pastries and coffee will be served. We will walk over to the General Assembly together after breakfast. A huge thank you to the NC Medical Society for allowing us to use their space!

You will be grouped with people from your area and receive a schedule with a list of all of your legislative meetings for the day. Each group will have a guide who will make sure they navigate the General Assembly with ease.

We plan to wear our HOP WORKS! shirts at the Legislature, so feel free to wear business casual and your tee shirt. Please wear comfortable shoes! There will be a lot of walking.

We expect meetings to finish by 2:30PM.

Our goal is to share our experiences about how impactful and important the Healthy Opportunities have been in our communities. You can speak from your heart and leave a big mark on the staff and elected officials you get to meet.
